IPowerE One Day Seminar
GAS: ITS ROLE IN THE TRANSITION TO NET ZERO
13 November 2025
Meetpoint Midlands Kegworth Derbyshire DE74 2DA

The Institution of Power Engineers presents its 2025 Seminar, continuing this successful event’s contribution to the most important debates in the Energy Industry, with ‘Gas – its role in the transition to Net Zero’ being the theme for this year’s one-day Seminar at Kegworth.
There is a clear role for natural gas fired generation in the electricity systems of today and potentially for decades into the future. System operation, interaction with renewables, energy and storage, grid support services, the role of new build versus established fleet, and the trading systems and governance all combine to make this a complex and important subject. Recent grid failures and stability issues reinforce the need for a system-wide assessment of all contributions to the electricity system.
With contributions from Clarke Energy, Edina, Frazer-Nash Consultancy, GE Vernova, National Gas, Mott MacDonald and Watt Logic, this seminar will explore:
- The vital role of gas fuelled plant in delivery of Net Zero whilst assuring security of supply
- The effective deployment of existing and new-build plant
- Latest developments in gas engines and gas turbines to meet new operational demands
