Midsummer Mingle
Wednesday 25 June 2025, Anson Engine Museum
Anson Engine Museum are holding the Friends of the Anson Engine Museum annual “Midsummer Mingle” on 25th June from 2pm until 7.30pm. It will be combined with the “Mirrlees Reunion” and members of other engine and engineering companies are also warmly invited to join us. There will be a sausage BBQ included in the £8 entry fee (free to museum members) and drinks and other refreshments will be available to purchase.
A good opportunity to catch up on what’s been happening, particularly the development of the large engine displays in the Chris Bowden Memorial Building, the 1938 MAN diesel engine and the re-created, belt driven workshop kindly donated by Mr R R Hall and his family, a descendant of one of the directors of the world’s largest textile machinery manufacturers, Platt Brothers of Oldham.
Combine Cycle Gas Turbines, Power Generation and Decarbonisation
2-6 June 2025, Cranfield University
The course covers gas turbines and combined-cycle gas turbine plants, focusing on their design, operating economics, and evolving roles in the context of power generation decarbonisation and other applications. As the future shifts towards electrification, power generation will face immense pressure to rapidly increase capacity. The course will explore the technologies involved and examine how these developments are being shaped by the urgent need to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the power sector. International Conference on Pressure Vessel Technology – ICPVT15
23-25 September 2025, Glasgow
Call for papers open; see below for topics and further details
ICPVT15 is the world’s leading conference for the Pressure Vessels and Systems Community. It boasts a global audience, spanning multiple decades and continents, bringing together the richest and most in-depth technical programme of presentations and papers.
With the global transition to a net-zero energy economy, and the concurrent technical challenges to delivering it, pressure systems engineers are pivotal enablers in securing our future. Developments in nuclear fission and fusion technologies, oil, gas, and chemicals processing, hydrogen, carbon capture, renewables, all require input from this community.
For 2025, the conference is hosted and organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Pressure System Group. The IMechE PSG will build on its 40-year track record leading the pressure systems industry, enhancing the prestigious technical ICPVT programme.
Taking place across three days in Glasgow, the conference will include plenary and streamed conference sessions, an exhibition of leading technology and service providers, dedicated technical workshops and seminars, and exciting social and networking opportunities throughout.
Whether you join as an author, sponsor, exhibitor, or delegate, you are certain to benefit immensely from this unique opportunity to engage with your international peers.
Boiler User Group 2025
5-6 November 2025, Birmingham
The next Boiler User Group to once more bring together the engineers, designers, operators, service providers and safety professionals together in one unique forum. This year’s Boiler User Group will address issues relating to all aspects of the design, operation, maintenance and integrity of boilers (fired boiler plant associated with power generation or industrial process steam). This will cover a wide scope of plant areas and fuels, including waste, biomass, fossil and other fuels.
Nuclear Ventilation 2025
11-12 November 2025, Manchester
Taking place every two years and now in its 12th successive iteration, this two-day conference is the only event of its kind that enables power industry professionals and engineering practitioners from all sectors of the nuclear community to stay abreast of developments in nuclear ventilation within the UK. Take this opportunity to learn about standards and solutions to key ventilation challenges, covering examples in operational plants, decommissioning and containment.
