AWARDS

IPowerE are proud to be the recipient of the Global Industrial Utilities Forum Award for appreciation of our support as an Association Partner in 2025

Presented to Deputy IPowerE President Professor Suresh Sampath at the GIUF-2025 conference held in April 2025 in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

Best Research Project with Industrial Application Student Prize

IPowerE is proud to work closely with Cranfield University in an Academic Partnership and aims to combine the best of our power industry membership and the vibrant and sector leading engineering research and training activities at Cranfield.

As part of this partnership IPowerE wants to encourage and support early career excellence in engineering and, with Cranfield University, has decided to award a medal for the outstanding student of the year on the Thermal Power and Propulsion Masters course on the basis of consistent effort and results.

IPowerE were delighted to be able to make this award at this year’s graduation ceremony held at Cranfield University to Fabio Campolmi for executing a first class project on the topic of the Zero CO2 Gas Turbine Engine.

Arthur Garlant Lifetime Achievement Award

This award, sponsored by North Lincs Engineering and North  Lincs Bio Fuels, was first introduced by IPowerE in 2023 when it was awarded to Arthur Garlant.

The following recipients have been Ronald Hunt in 2024 for his significant contribution to thermal power systems, the Institution of Power Engineers and to the future generations of professional engineers.

In 2025 the award went to Stan Archer, IPowerE Trustee Board member and Honorary Secretary, for his significant contribution to innovation and manufacturing excellence in generator controls. His career in engineering spanning eight decades and for outstanding support of the Institution of Power Engineers.

This year the award was given to Graham Dilliway for services to the engineering profession including focus on power engineering in the developing world and
long-term support of the Institution of Power Engineers

A member of IPowerE (and formerly IDGTE and DEUA) for over 50 years, Graham has served on the Council of the Institution as well as holding the position of President on two occasions, firstly in 1983-85 and again in 1991-93. He is the author of a number of papers on power engineering, including several published by this Institution. He was made an Honorary Fellow in 1994.
Graham’s career in engineering spans an incredible seven decades, starting in 1962 at the National Gas & Oil Engine Company in Ashton-under-Lyne before moving, after their merger, to Mirrlees National (later Mirrlees Blackstone) in Hazel Grove, Stockport, where he held a number of senior sales and contracts positions including Senior Engineer, Middle East. Following that he held a several senior positions in engineering in the UK Government Agency before starting his own consultancy business, PowerConsult International.
During his career, Graham was involved in the development of power plants in many continents and islands, including in the developing world, improving the lives of people by establishing a secure power supply.
IPowerE were delighted to be able to honour Graham with this Lifetime Achievement Award.
